"'Come to the edge,' he said.
They said, 'We are afraid.'
'Come to the edge,' he said.
They came.
He pushed them...
And they flew."

Wow, it's been a pretty hectic couple of weeks what w/ school, work, catechist events, and New Testament class planning. It's been a lot of fun, though.

So I got myself some Classroom Observation time scheduled at Kingwood 9th grade campus and Humble High School (main). I'm still waiting on responses from Kingwood High (main) and Humble 9th. During my meeting at Quest High last week, the principal told me that it would be beneficial for me to see the difference between traditional versus nontraditional high school instruction, i.e. Kingwood/Humble v. Quest.

"If you're going to work in Eduction Reform, you have to know what you're reforming."

I think she forgets that, until transferring to Quest in the 10th grade, I was a student of Kingwood schools from the age of 3. ...and traditional schools SUCK. But whatever, I've gotta go through the motions.

My Aunt Christine's company just hired on two former Louisiana residents. Their families have absolutely nothing. One family has 5 children - two daughters in college, and 3 boys. My aunt's entire company has been involved in setting these families up. Yesterday my mom and I packed away all sorts of donations: food, kitchen/houseware, baby supplies.

2 classmates of the college-aged girls live in the dorms at UH and have nothing in their rooms, so I sent them all my old dorm gear...desk lamps, tree lamps, rugs, school supplies, etc. Apparently Katrina hit just one semester before their graduation.

For those of you living in other states, it's a whole 'nother experience living on the frontlines here in Houston. Come to think of it, there isn't one person I know who hasn't done something for the Katrina victims. We hear a lot of blather from the media that "Not enough is being done..." I'd like to see some newscasters shelling out some dough or putting in some time at the Astrodome. And where the eff are Puffy & Oprah?

Now I'm getting pissed. Time to get ready for work.
