"'Come to the edge,' he said.
They said, 'We are afraid.'
'Come to the edge,' he said.
They came.
He pushed them...
And they flew."

Adventures in Lit Class

[In Rotation]:
Rage Against the Machine's The Battle of Los Angeles. That is, 'till it put me in that mood. You know, the mood where I feel the urge to lead revolutionary movements, light fires, and pick fights with considerably larger individuals.

Currently rocking Fiona Apple's Tidal. Brilliant album. Kinda crazy that she was all of 19 when she recorded it. Sorta like Alanis (also 19) when she wrote A Jagged Little Pill. ANd let's not forget that she recorded that piece of gold in a matter of a few hours. Mind-blowing.

Britney & Christina were around that age when they launched their careers. They should put that shit in their pipes & smoke it.

Have I heard of the Gingerman?
Walking to Lit class today, some dood stops me. He asks if I've heard of the Gingerman (pub). Have I heard of the Gingerman? Please. "In Rice Village, yah?" I reply. He hands me a flyer w/ the weekly lineup and a $2/off coupon. Then he asks how my day has been. I tell him it's been alright. He says he's just been trying to keep his dog, which he was walking at the time, under control. As he says this, his dog pulls free and runs clear across the academic mall. The dood takes off after him, shouting "NOoooOOOOOoo! _________<--insert dog's name!!" People looked at me as if I had done something wrong. I shrugged and walked to class.

I wonder if he caught his dog.

I'll Give You Something to Explicate
In Lit class, Lowery made us discuss our explications of Frost. She split us off into groups and then left the room, expecting us to "get deep into it" before her return. What a dumbass. Ronnie whipped out his laptop and showed Priscilla and me the unreleased preview of Richard Linklater's (of Slackers, Dazed & Confused, Waking Life & School of Rock)new one - A Scanner Darkly.

Ronnie's actually doing the rotoscoping for the film. I'd seen the "Call for Talent" posted by the Linklater peopl in the Houston Press a few weeks back. Ronnie made the cut. How cool is that?

Me, him, and Portuguese girl knew we'd be buddies the very first day of class. We couldn't help but notice the mutual badassness of shoeness. He had on checkered, slip-on Vans, her - maroon/grey suede old school Nikes, me - my green Campus Adidas.

You can tell a lot about a person by their shoes.
