Shiny Objects
I make a promise to myself, every feasible paycheck, that I will purchase one of my long-lost albums. You know, one the few gems that you lent to a sonovabitch who never returned it or that got packed away in a misplaced moving box.... ------------------------------------ Some of Val's gems include: ------------------------------------ *Cut Chemist Meets Shortkut - Live at the Future Primitive Soundsession *Beck - Odelay *Jill Scott Live *The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die *The Foo Fighters - self titled debut *Mos Def - Black on Both Sides (crying everyday about this one) *TLC - CrazySexyCool *Jason Mraz - Waiting for My Rocket to Come *NIN - Pretty Hate Machine *The Beatles - Abbey Road (recently misplaced. Still crying about it) *The Beatles - Yellow Submarine (I never technically owned this one. Tho it'd complete my collection, I know I'd never listen to it. The Beatles themselves had little to do w/ the Yellowsub movie & soundtrack...which explains the cheese) ------------------------------------ The paycheck before last, I ordered Cut Chemist off Ebay from some dood in London. It came last week and filled my heart with joy. Last paycheck, I decided on Odelay at Soundwaves. But then, scoping the hip-hop section, I spotted the most recent object of my musical affection: Aesop Rock (thanks to Mr. Paolo :) But then, scoping the used bin section, I spotted the Beastie Boys' Check Your Head & Hello Nasty...together, which would cost the price of one new CD. (big UP to Raven for the burned intro to the Beasties :) Oh, the decisions... Long story short, why - praytell - has it taken me so long to replace my gems? ...I'm attracted to shiny objects. I went home with Aesop. The Oldies But Goodies will have to wait till next paycheck - that is, if something shiny doesn't catch my eye first.... This musical excursion, by the way, was the reason Raven & I were late to her appointment. <--hotlinkage. :-X Night.
